Hi Sisters,
The Oct./Nov. focus for our
"Moving Towards a 3 month supply" is to identify those things we wish we
had if we were unable, for whatever reason, to purchase them at a
store. The intent is to change our thinking. Instead of thinking we will always be able to drive to a store and the store will always be fully stocked, we need to think
about the what ifs. What if I can't get to a store. What if there is a
trucking strike and there are no new deliveries. What if I can get to
the store but the shelves are empty. What if money, as we know it, no
longer has buying power or value. What if a natural disaster curtails
manufacturing. The list could go on and on.
The challenge is to not shop for a week. Of course, we
don't expect members not to go get things they need. If the baby needs
diapers--go get the diapers. But, for that week, TRY not to go
shopping. Make a list, literally or mentally, of those things you need
to stock up on. Those things you really don't want to go without. Even
when you think you
have a 3 month supply of things, it is amazing the things you notice
that you would hate to go without if you didn't have to or the things
you will now make an effort to store. Would you really want to go
without soap or toothpaste for an extended length of time? What would
you use if you ran out of toilet paper or milk?
