Do you consider boxed cake mixes food storage?
Why shouldn't you. I once heard a great reason for why we should store food (aside from the emergency need situation). It was compared to putting money in the bank. When you buy something at a good price, that you will use later, you are saving money (and being prepared at the same time).
This recipe is especially great because all of the ingredients can be stored in your pantry and are easy to find / purchase, no freezer needed, no specialty foods just yumminess waiting to happen.

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies
1 15 oz can pumpkin
1 bag chocolate chips
1 Spice Cake Mix
Mix and spoon on cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes
