Here is a recipe from BePrepared.com to use with the Freeze dried Beef Brisket and Cauliflower on a recent group buy.
Enjoy
Beef Brisket Stew with Cauliflower
2 cups Beef Brisket* (Freeze dried from Emergency Essentials)
1 cup Onion, chopped*
1 cup Celery, chopped*
2 cups Potato, diced*
1 cup Cauliflower*
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 bay leaves
2 cups Beef Broth*
1 1/4 cup Water
2 Tbsp Olive Oil
salt and pepper
Saute onion in a large pot (in olive oil) until soft and somewhat translucent. Add garlic and let brown for a few minutes.
Add meat, carrots, celery, potatoes, bay leaves, salt and pepper. Let cook for 10 minutes. Add beef broth and 1 cup water. Bring up to a boil and then lower to med-low heat.
Cover, and let simmer for 15 minutes. Add 2 tsp flour to 1/4 cup warm water and mix well. Pour into stew while stirring. This will help thicken the sauce.
Simmer uncovered for 5 minutes or until sauce thickens. Remove bay leaves. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Taco Soup and Quick Chocolate Cookies
Thanks JoLynn F from the Regal Country ward - these are my kind of food storage recipes!
Here is our easy fall back dinner using a few ingredients from my food storage:
2 (14 1/2oz) cans diced tomatoes undrained (Yea food storage)
1 can kidney beans undrained
1 can pinto beans undrained
1 can red or black beans undrained
1 can corn undrained
1 can tomato soup
1/2 to full pkg. taco seasoning.
Cook and drain hamburger. Combine all ingredients and cook on medium heat for 30 min. Stir often. Garnish with cheese and sour cream and tortilla chips.(can substitute 1 lb cooked chicken in place of hamburger)
printable recipe
We found a great deal on a case of cake mixes last year so we bought a case and got a little tired of cake. We found this real easy cookie recipe using cake mix.
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 eggs
1/2 cup miracle whip salad dressing.
Heat oven to 350. Mix all ingredients in a large bowl with an electric mixer until blended' Batter will be thick. Drop by rounded teaspoonful on greased cookie sheet bake 10 to 12 min until edges are lightly browned. You can substitute powdered eggs for real eggs. 2T of dry egg powder + 1/4 cup water for 1 large egg. Mix the egg powder and water together until well blended then add to recipe.

Spaghetti and Breadsticks
Here’s a really easy "food storage" meal that is a regular menu item at our house.
Spaghetti and bread sticks
We have both home canned and store bought sauce in the storage room and a bin full of spaghetti noodles. Adding a little hamburger from the freezer makes for a more filling dinner. We store raw hamburger in Ziploc baggies ( I will now be flattening it out - great idea) but also cooked hamburger that I’ve frozen on cookie sheets and then put into baggies (this saves a few minutes when you need a quick meal). Recently I bought a 12 pack of Parmesan cheese on Amazon and so now wehave to get to eat it on everything.

Breadstick recipe
1 Tbsp yeast 1 Tbsp Honey
1 ½ cups warm water 1 tsp salt
3 to 4 cups of flour
Dissolve yeast in warm water. Stir in remaining ingredients and let rise 10 min. Knead (I use my kitchen aid for a few minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic). Roll out on a cookie sheet. Spread with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic salt and Parmesan cheese. Use a pizza cutter to cut into strips. Let rise 10 minutes. Bake at 350 for 20 minutes.

Unconventional "Storage" Items - Cream Cheese
The following recipes both call for cream cheese. I thought that would be an ingredient that I would be unable to "store". Once I looked at the expiration date I realized I could store cream cheese for several months in my frig. I try to always have 8 to 10 in the frig and buy Western Family when it is on sale.
Baked Penne Pasta
3 cups Barilla Plus multi grain pasta cooked (4 cups cooked)
2 - 10 oz. pkg frozen spinach cooked and drained really really well
or 2 cups re hydrated freeze dried spinach
2 tsp. dried basil
1 - 26 oz. can Hunts Roasted Garlic and Onion sauce (or whatever brand you prefer)
1 - 28 oz. can diced tomatoes (drain)
1 - 8 oz. pkg. cream cheese
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (can buy in bulk and freeze in smaller pkgs.)
Parmesan cheese
Cook pasta according to directions
Cook spinach and squeeze out all water
In a separate pan, combine spaghetti sauce, tomatoes and softened cream cheese
Cook until cream cheese melts
Drain pasta and combine with spinach and sauce
Pour into a 9 X 13 dish
Sprinkle the top with Parmesan cheese
Cream Cheese Brownies
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Prepare 1 German Chocolate Cake mix (I prefer Betty Crocker) as instructed on box.
Pour batter into sprayed or greased 10 X 15 jelly roll pan
Beat until creamy
1 8 oz. pkg. softened cream cheese
1/2 cup sugar
Add:
1 egg and beat until smooth
Dollop cream cheese mixture all over cake batter and swirl
around. Sprinkle about 1 1/2 cup choc. chips (I always have some
stored in the freezer--they last forever) all over cake and cream
Thanks to Patty W. for sharing these recipes.

Kid friendly (kid made) Chicken Noodle Soup
Soups are a really easy way to use your food storage provided of course you have water :).
My kids like to make dinner (and I"m NOT complaining about this), my ten year old is especially adventurous and will try just about anything. Tonight she decided on chicken noodle soup but she made it very kid friendly and though I probably would have liked the extra veggies it was delicious.
Kid friendly Chicken Noodle Soup
(for a big family)
2 pints canned chicken
10 cups water
10 chicken bouillon cubes (or 2 Tbps instant chicken bouillon)
abt 1/4 cup dried onion flakes
abt 10 chopped baby carrots (or you could use canned or frozen)
2 cups uncooked egg noodles
*stuff in the recipe that she did not like the looks off,
4 medium chopped stalks of celery (maybe freeze dried?)
Combine all ingredients in large pan, heat to boiling; reduce heat. Cover, simmer until carrots are tender and noodles are cooked, about 15 minutes. (If you are using fresh noodles you will need to add them closer to the end of your cooking time), sprinkle with snipped parsley if desired.

| Note to self, don't take pictures of soup in a green bowl, it looks strange even if it was really yummy. |
