VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES IN JAN. 2013

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES IN JAN. 2013

United Way of Northern Utah is actively recruiting tutors and mentors to begin
immediately in all area schools. Contact Sally Carter at 801-399-5584 or
scarter@uwnu.org.

Christmas Box House has several opportunities available year round. Some of
these include tree decorating with homemade or bought ornaments; creating
bulletin boards for specific holidays or seasons and gift wrapping for donations
at local stores. They are also looking for receptionists for their donation center.
Contact Lori Parrish at 801-866-0350 or lori@thechristmasboxhouse.org

The YMCA of Northern Utah is looking for volunteers for after-school homework
help from 4-5 p.m. at any of the Northern Utah sites. They also house an Early
Childhood Education program who always welcome adults who can read to the
students. Please contact Kayleen Betthauser at volunteer@ymcasaltlake.org or
801-839-5447 for more information.

American Red Cross of Northern Utah is in need of utility assistance
caseworkers. This program is essential for low-income, elderly and disabled
households who may be struggling to keep their utility services on. Volunteer
applications are available online at www.utahredcross.org and all training will be
provided. Call 801-625-0859 for more information.

Volunteers for projects and specific item drives are always needed at Ogden
Weber Community Action Partnership. Supply drives include craft items, first
aid supplies, emergency non-perishable foods, personal hygiene items and baby
supplies. A current need is for a building and grounds maintenance volunteer
assistant between 4-9 p.m. after the building closes each day, Monday through
Thursday. For more information, please contact Becky Mercier at 801-399-9281
or bmercier@owcap.org

Catholic Community Services is looking for front desk greeters, grocery pickup
assistants, home delivery assistants and food intake workers for their food bank.
There is an urgent need for someone who would be dedicated to the home
delivery program where volunteers deliver food to individuals who are unable to
get to the food bank. This is a monthly obligation that may grow if the program
is successful. Homes on the route are currently in the Ogden/Roy area. For
any of these opportunities, please contact Karina Martin at 801-428-1296 or
kmartin@ccsutah.org.
