Weber Pathways is a non-profit organization that plans, promotes and protects non-motorized trails and open space in Weber County. They have a great tradition of volunteer support for their projects.  On the Bonneville Shoreline North, they need construction leaders and trail builders.  Work is beginning this Saturday, Oct. 6 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and continues evenings and Saturdays until the weather prohibits.  Plan on relatively heavy work, so wear long work pants and bring work gloves and water-other tools will be provided.  Another opportunity is to volunteer to be a trailer leader to conduct trail-related activities.  Outings can be educationally oriented and include history of the area, moonlight hikes, geocaching and/or photography.   Volunteers may choose what type of outing and the times and dates they are available. Light clerical help in the offices of Weber Pathways is also needed.  Please contact Weber Pathways for more information at 801-393-2304 or outreach@weberpathways.org.

Ogden Nature Center is planning their annual non-scary Halloween event for October 19-20 from 4:30-8:30 p.m. Volunteers are needed for carnival games, nature crafts, fortune telling, face painting, front entrance, parking attendants and the information booth.  This is a great individual or group opportunity.  Contact Jenny Frame at 801-621-7595 or volunteer@ogdennaturecenter.org

Boys and Girls Club is looking for an office volunteer for about 15 hours per week to help with greeting people, answering phones, mailings and meeting preparation.  Please contact Judith Kasten Bell at 801-627-2071 ext. 15 or judykb@bgcweberdavis.org

Hill Aerospace Museum is looking for volunteers to help in the museum in Roy. Onsite orientation is provided and two shifts are available from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 1 to 4:30 p.m. In addition, all the display planes at the museum need occasional cleaning. This is a perfect project for a scout troop or youth group. Private tours can be arranged for the group with advanced notice. Please contact George Donahue at 801-775-4631 for more information.

Habitat for Humanity Northern Utah in Brigham City is looking for a dedicated volunteer to do fundraising, grant-writing, and public relations work. If you have any or all of these skills and are comfortable approaching businesses and the community, please call Shannon Dixon at 435-723-7133.

The Salvation Army has several opportunities available with various degrees of time and experience for each commitment. Among these are tasks for groups that include landscaping around the chapel area or youth center cleaning. Positions that also need to be filled are for a pantry assistant, a market assistant and a breakfast assistant. Two new volunteer positions in the thrift store are for a store custodian and a clothing production assistant. All training and tools are provided by the Salvation Army. Please contact volunteer coordinator Homer Purdy Jr. at 801-621-3580 ext. 2306 or Homer.Purdy@usw.salvationarmy.org

Your Community Connection (YCC) is in need of volunteers to assist in the domestic violence crisis shelter anytime in 4-hour shifts between 7 a.m.-11 p.m..  Duties include answering the crisis hotline, assisting clients in the shelter and completing intakes with new clients.  Volunteers are also needed to be victim and/or rape recovery advocates.  These are 12-hour on-call shifts to respond to specific incidents and work one-on-one with the victims.  Training is provided for all of these opportunities and volunteers must pass a background check. Contact Lynzee Ouellette at 801-689-1706 or secoordinator@yccogden.org.

Volunteers with all levels of home improvement and/or construction experience are asked to contact Weber/Davis Habitat for Humanity to assist with current home projects. Contact Dave Crumb at 208-315-2438 or crumerelli@hotmail.com for more information.
