How to Have and Maintain a 3-Month Supply of Eggs

As I looked at always having a three month supply of the things I typically eat, storing eggs became a problem.
My first solution was to have the grandkids raise chickens. They were all for the idea; their mom not so much.
Next I looked at storing powdered eggs. I purchased powdered whole eggs and powdered scrambled eggs at the grocery store, but didn’t open them because once opened the shelf life is greatly shortened.
Then I was told I could store real eggs in the frig for up to six months.
Finally, I opened the powdered eggs and found they work great in many baked items and the scrambled egg mix was better tasting than I thought it would be. I have also stored up to six dozen eggs in my frig and have found that they truly do last at least 3 months.
Buying the 5 dozen pack of eggs at Sam’s Club is the best buy, but then I didn’t want to purchase another 5 dozen eggs until the old ones were pretty much used up which means I could end up without a supply of eggs.
Which brings me to the best plan for me.
1. I will use the number 10 cans that I have already opened before they expire.
2. I will have additional unopened powdered eggs on the shelf that have the purchase date written on the side and will use them before they expire in ten years.
3. I will have an initial 5 dozen eggs from Sam’s Club in the frig.
4. I will begin buying a dozen eggs each week to replace the eggs used from the 5 dozen pack thus rotating eggs so I always have 5 dozen eggs in my frig without having them all purchased in the same week.
I think this plan will work great for me and my family.
